“Now therefore, O sons, listen to me, for blessed are they who keep my ways.  Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.” (Prov. 8:32-33)  “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.” (Psalm 111:10)  There is very much a reality in the mental, physical and spiritual actions in carrying out the Word of God that has been wrought about in the new creation.  For to not provide clear evidence that the Word of God is indeed deep withing the soul is to either be a hypocritical liar or one who is still rebelling against the Holy Spirit and in a time of discipline, instruction, repentance and growth.  Of course the latter is an on going process of sanctification that is continual until the first death, but can be more severe from time to time.

I find in myself that my ‘old nature,’ my sin soaked flesh, has been rearing it’s ugly head and shaking it’s fist in my face more often lately.  I am ashamed to admit it, but I have been loosing more often than I have been winning.  But praise be to God that His mercies are new everyday.  Praise be to God that He does not delight in the death of anyone (Ezekiel 18:32).  May He never tire in His loving discipline of my life.  For I can understand that when I am weak He indeed is strong.  What a great and wonderful testimony this is.

Why is it He still uses me for His glory?  For His sovereignty, His omniscience, His will are far beyond my understanding.  For He will declare His name to all for His good purposes.  I praise my God that even in my pains, in my failures and in my rebellion that He sovereignly works all things to my eternal good, that being the conformity into the very image of Jesus Christ my Lord! (Romans 8:28-29)

Praise be to God in the storm; praise be to God evermore!  “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed by Your name.  Your kingdom come.  Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:9-10)  May His will be done in my life first and foremost before I ever leave my prayer; then I will be fit to be a servant, fit to be a husband, fit to be a father and fit to be a minister of the Gospel in all areas of life.  Amen.

Trusting in their own righteousness.  This is a soul-ruining mischief.  When men trust in their own righteousness they do indeed reject Christ’s.  Beloved, you had need be watchful on every hand, for not only your sins, but your duties may undo you.  It may be you never thought of this; but so it is, that a man may as certainly perish by his seeming righteousness and supposed graces as by gross sins; and that is, when a man trusts to these as his righteousness before God, for satisfying His justice, appeasing His wrath, procuring His favour, and obtaining His pardon.  This is to put Christ out of office, and make a Saviour of our own duties and graces.  Beware of this, O professing Christians; you are much in duties, but this one fly will spoil all the ointment.  When you have done most and best, be sure to go out of yourselves to Christ; reckon your own righteousness as filthy rags (Phil. iii. 9, Is. Ixiv. 6).”

12 Reasons to Support the Persecuted Church

by Daniel Bartsch – Voice of the Martyrs

1. Astounding rewards! Isaiah 58:10 (read whole chapter for more!) (NKJV)

If you extend your soul to the hungry

And satisfy the afflicted soul,

Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,

And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

2. Important recipient! Matthew 25:44-45 (NKJV)

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’  Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’”

3. Your turn is coming!  (Right?)  2 Timothy 3:12 (NIV)

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted

4. “They” did!  Acts 12:5 (NASB)

So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.

5. Support ‘family’ first! Galatians 6:10 (NKJV)

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

6. You live in a body too!  Hebrews 13:3 (NKJV)

Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.

7.  Impacted prayer life!  Acts 4:23-31 (NASB)

When they had been released, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord… And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

8. It’s a privilege!  2 Corinthians 8:3-4 (NIV)

Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.

9. God gets glory! 2 Corinthians 9:13 (NIV)

Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

10. You get prayer! 2 Corinthians 9:14 (NIV)

And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.

11. You get encouraged!  Philippians 1:14 (NASB)

Most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.

12. We’re connected! 1 Corinthians 12:26 (NKJV)

And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
